The dancing baby collection
The Dancing Baby is one of the first viral videos in the history of the internet and also widely recognized to be the internet's first meme. The original creators Michael Girard, Robert Lurye and John Chadwick produced a meme before the world actually knew what a meme is. Dating back to 1996 when digital art production and distribution were just getting started, the dancing baby marks a historical milestone for the sharing of social media. The original dancing baby recalls the initial excitement, optimism and playful creativity that gave birth to the web. It was a time for imagining hopeful visions of what the internet might become.
More than 25 years after it went viral we release a digitally restored, smooth high definition version by the Original Creators as NFT so it can live forever. To set the original creation in perspective we invite contemporary 3D artists and animators of another generation to „remix“ the dancing baby. We want artists and creators of the beginning of the web3 to re-imagine the loop with their tools, like the original creators did at the beginning of the idea of web2. Create artistic reference to anything related to the dancing baby - even conceptual. What could the dancing baby be and look like in 2022?
By owning the digitally restored loop by the original creators, you own a part of internet history.
